this saturday, there's a farewell picnic of sorts for Vivi and family (they're regular makan2 get together buddies) moving from Peoria to N. Carolina. i offered to bake a father's day cake since this weekend is a father's day weekend.
the plan is chocolate cake, and i am going to... yes, bake the cake but most importantly
1) attempt making... and
2) applying ganache frosting. AND
3) try very hard to make the writings on the cake look decent.
why ganache frosting u ask??... well once i watched alton brown on good eats made some and he used the word "easy". also, i have cooking chocolate sitting pretty and doing nothing in the pantry (it's the unsweetened variety, not fit for consumption unless altered in form and taste. this contributed to it's long existence in le' pantry). so, combining "easy" and availability, i've decided on ganache...
; )... as soon as i peel myself from this computer, i'll go do cake/ grocery shopping : )...

I actually just discover a very very good chocolate cake recipe. It has been approved by Julia too..;-)
Let me know if you want to try it out. I'll find you the link. But just a warning.. the ingredient itself cost me about $25+ using coupons. So, no wonder it is SOooo GOOD!!
for the cake, i'm gonna cheat : D, pakai kek dalam kotak tu... sodap jugak...
plus, gonna add extra stuff... a little coffee brings out the chocolate-ness even more... that barefoot contessa and that everyday italian chick osso cakap like that...

win pun kadang2 jek masak kek. bukan chot & i tak suka tapi sebab it takes us ages to finish. but i learned to make them into muffin- sized form and store in the freezer. bila rasa nak makan kek, dah ada yang dah siap.
it is always chocolate cake for us, laju sikit kitaorg kerjakan.

i know zilch about cake baking ok...me so the pemalas one that i went to this bakery 2day and booked a cake for Father's Day tomorrow..my dad luvs chocolate so we ordered this American Chocolate with some sort of special Danish frosting that the girl at the bakery was telling me about n i just went "hm..ok lah we'll take it.." not even knowing the difference between regular frosting or special or Danish..what more your elegant sounding 'ganache' frosting..cake dlm kotak pon me tak pernah buat ok *LOL*
